Michael Sanchez was born and raised in San Jose, CA. After fostering a love for trumpet at a young age he decided to be a classical musician. It was not until 19 years old that he began to recognize his passion for jazz, and quickly a new and fresh sound began to emerge in his head. "What They Don't See" is the birth of this new sound

Michael Sanchez is a Bay Area native trumpeter with over fifteen years performance experience, having fallen in love with the instrument upon starting in the 4th grade - by the time he was 12 he knew he wanted to become a professional musician! He is adept at playing and teaching various styles including: Classical, Jazz, Rock, Funk, and Commercial. He has spent years playing in local musical theater companies performing Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof, In the Heights, amongst many others and led the house band in the SOMA Ballroom. Michael recently released his first original album as a leader: "What They Don't See", and has studied and performed with many great teachers including Eric Bolvin, Kathryn Adduci, Joel Behrman, and Grammy award-winner Jeff Lewis. He has been lucky enough to be in demand as a leader and sideman at venues throught the Bay Area.

Michael has extensive experience in trumpet, piano, teaching, composition, conducting, and even a little accordion!

Michael teaches privately and is on staff at the Los Gatos School of Music.

What They Don't See

"What They Don't See" are the hours you put in. The challenges you've overcome. Where you've been and where you're going. All anyone can see is where you are right now, but that's only a small part of any person. With this album I hope those that it resonates with can see more than that. That they can see more of me than what exists right now and realize that with everyone in our lives there's so much that we don't see.
